Mental Health Act 1983

The Mental Health Act 1983 (Amended by Mental Health Act 2007) provides statutory responsibilities for those in England & Wales to be assessed under the MHA 1983 for possible detention in Hospital under various sections of the MHA 1983. There are exclusions for people with a learning disability. These exclusions do not include detention under S.2 MHA 1983 Admission for assessment for up to 28 days.
